The American Film Institute revealed its full slate of films being presented online for the AFI DOCS 2020 festival which runs runs June 17–21. The lineup features 59 films from 11 countries and 12 virtual World Premieres, with 61% of the films directed by women, 25% by POC directors and 14% by LGBTQ directors.

This year’s 60th edition of Krakow Film Festival which was held online due to the COVID19 pandemic ended with the awards gala. The audience award was given to the Norwegian documentary “The Self Portrait” directed by Margreth Olin, Katja Hogset and Espen Wallin. The film also received the Jury Prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).

Due the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Toronto After Dark Film Festival has postponed this year’s 15th Edition by one year, to October 14-22, 2021.

Cannes Film Festival announced the line-up of the 73rd edition of festival which due to the global pandemic, will not take place this year under its usual conditions.

Over continued concerns surrounding the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV), the Staller Center for the Arts has postponed the Stony Brook Film Festival which was initially scheduled for July 16-25, 2020.

Anchorage International Film Festival (AFF) will host the screening of the award-winning documentary The Wild directed by Mark Titus, as a “Live” Virtual Screening on Friday, June 5th at 6 pm AKDT.

The We Are One: A Global Film Festival, co-curated by 21 prolific festivals including Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Venice Film Festival, will feature over 100 films, in addition to talks, VR content and musical performances. The festival, produced and organized by Tribeca Enterprises and YouTube, will run exclusively May 29 – June 7 on YouTube.

The RiverRun International Film Festival which was held virtually this year in light of COVID-19 and the cancellation of the festival announced its 2020 Jury Award Winners. The top prizes went to De Lo Mio directed by Diana Peralta for Best Film; and I Am Not Alone directed by Garin Hovannisian won Best Documentary Feature.

Because of the ongoing world health crisis, Cinema St. Louis (CSL) will move all of the organization’s 2020 film festivals and events online including CSL’s signature event in November, the 29th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival.
