Last Call, a real-time split-screen feature film shot in two true single takes with an original musical score also recorded live to picture, will have its West Coast premiere at Dances with Films at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood on Tuesday, June 18th at 7:15pm. The film is directed by Gavin Michael Booth (The Scarehouse), written by Gavin Michael Booth and Daved Wilkins (“The Mindy Project”), and starring Sarah Booth (“Law & Order: SVU”) and Daved Wilkins.

Almost Never Films has completed principal photography on the feature film “Winter Song” starring Grammy Award winner and actress Ashanti. Ashanti who debuted her acting career in “Coach Carter” (starring Samuel L. Jackson) is also known for her roles in the films “The Muppet’s Wizard of Oz” and “Resident Evil: Extinction” (starring Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter). “Winter Song” also stars Stan Shaw, who has appeared in films such as “Fried Green Tomatoes” (starring Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy), “Harlem Nights” (starring Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor), and “The Monster Squad”.

New York filmmaker Diana Peralta’s vibrant feature film debut, DE LO MIO, will World Premiere as the Closing Night film of BAMcinemaFest which runs June 12 to 23. A bittersweet family drama set in the Dominican Republic, DE LO MIO will screen at BAMcinematek on Saturday, June 22 at 7:30 pm.

Sundance Institute, will present The Farewell director Lulu Wang, an alumna of Institute’s 2017 FilmTwo Initiative, with its Vanguard Award. Bleecker Street released the new official trailer for the dark comedy The Art of Self-Defense, directed by Riley Stearns, and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Alessandro Nivola, along with Imogen Poots. The Art of Self-Defense which premiered earlier this year at SXSW 2019 will open in select theaters on July 12, and nationwide on July 19, 2019.

Well Go USA Entertainment released the official teaser trailer for Freaks directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, and starring Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, Grace Park, with Amanda Crew, and introducing Lexy Kolker. Freaks will open in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 23rd.

Annapurna Pictures today released the uncut first 6 minutes of Booksmart directed by Olivia Wilde to celebrate tonight’s advanced screenings nationwide. You can see the opening of the film now and see the whole movie in theaters tonight at advanced screenings. Booksmart will open in theaters everywhere on May 24th.

The new trailer is released for queer dramedy Funny Story directed by Michael Gallagher and starring Matthew Glave and Emily Bett Rickards. IFC Films will release Lynn Shelton’s Sword of Trust starring Marc Maron, Jillian Bell, Michaela Watkins and Jon Bass in New York on July 12 at the IFC Center and The Landmark at 57 West; and in Los Angeles on July 19 at the Landmark’s Nuart Theatre.
