Irish Film London will host the much-anticipated UK premiere of Katie, the award-winning documentary that offers an incredible and emotional insight into the realm of world champion boxer Katie Taylor. Described by British champion Anthony Joshua as ‘phenomenal’, the notoriously private Irish Olympic Gold medal winner has become the most decorated and celebrated female fighter of all time.
The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on Sunday announced the three winning short films of this year’s Ammodo Tiger Short Competition. The winning films are Freedom of Movement by Nina Fischer and Maroan el Sani, Wong Ping’s Fables 1 by Wong Ping and Ultramarine by Vincent Meessen. Freedom of Movement has also been selected as IFFR’s Short Film Candidate for the European Short Film Awards 2019.
Ahead of its Sundance Film Festival premiere this coming Monday, Showtime released the official trailer for Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics and Men, the four-part limited docuseries from filmmaker Sacha Jenkins. The full series will air on Showtime later this spring.

The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Documentary Feature from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The directorial debut of award-winning photographer RaMell Ross, the film premieres on Independent Lens Monday, February 11, 2019, 10:00-11:30 PM ET (check local listings) on PBS.

On the heels of yesterday’s Oscar nominations, Regal announced its annual Best Picture Film Festival will take place Friday, Feb. 15, through Sunday, Feb. 24, featuring all best picture nominees that played in Regal theatres in 2018. Since Roma had a limited theatrical screening and did not play in Regal theatres, the film is noticeably excluded.
The documentary, “Studio 54,” directed by Matt Tyrnauer (“Valentino: The Last Emperor”) that premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and played at a number of film festivals, including the Tribeca Film Festival, AFI Docs, Provincetown Film Festival, and Outfest, will premiere on A&E on Monday, February 11 at 10pm ET/PT.
WU-TANG CLAN: OF MICS AND MEN is a four-part limited docuseries from filmmaker Sacha Jenkins (BURN MOTHERF*CKER, BURN!) that transcends the music documentary genre by creating a new lane that merges music, socio-cultural commentary and intimate family portrait. The first two episodes of the series will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday, January 28, and the full series will air on Showtime later this spring.
Noir City, the world’s most popular Film Noir festival, returns to the legendary Egyptian theater in Seattle, Washington, from February 15 through 21, 2019 for a week-long indulgence of danger, desire, and despair. The 2019 festival presents 20 classic films covering the years 1949 to 1959, as they were experienced on their original releases, pairing a top-tier studio “A” with a shorter, low-budget second feature, or “B” film. Many of the films will be presented in glorious 35mm. Czar of Noir and host of TCM’s “Noir Alley,” Eddie Muller, will host the week-long Festival.
