New York Film Festival unveiled the films in the Spotlight section for the upcoming 61st edition of the festival taking place September 29 – October 15, 2023. World premieres in the Spotlight section are Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s genre-defying series The Curse starring Emma Stone; and Garth Davis’s superbly rendered science-fiction drama Foe, starring Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal.
Maureen Gosling’s The 9 Lives of Barbara Dane, a documentary tribute celebrating the life of a powerhouse blues/jazz/folk singer, activist, feminist, record producer, and committed troublemaker, Barbara Dane will World Premiere at the 2023 Mill Valley Film Festival.
Sony Pictures Classics debuted the official trailer for The Persian Version, the Sundance Fest award-winning comedy film on the Iranian and Iranian-American experience. Starring in the film are Layla Mohammadi, Niousha Noor, Kamand Shafieisabet, Bijan Daneshmand, Bella Warda, Chiara Stella, Tom Byrne, and Shervin Alenabi.
The European Film Awards has selected 19 films as the first part of the Academy’s Feature Film Selection 2023. The Feature Film Selection includes films that the Board of the Academy recommends to all Academy members for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2023.

Named in honor of the legendary Canadian filmmaker, the Norman Jewison Career Achievement Award is presented by The Budman Family, and recognizes Canadians in the film industry who have made a global impact with their careers.
