Film Forum in New York City will host a special presentation of MTV Documentary Films’ acclaimed short subject documentary Lynching Postcards: “Token of a Great Day” directed and produced by Christine Turner, during the week of Martin Luther King Jr. Day running between January 14th – 20th. Each screening will be free and open to the public, and director Christine Turner will appear for Q&As at select screenings over the MLK holiday weekend at Film Forum.

The Homage section of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival will be dedicated to French film and stage actor Isabelle Huppert, who will be awarded an Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement. In conjunction with the Award Ceremony on February 15, 2022 at the Berlinale Palast, the festival will screen as Berlinale Special Gala À propos de Joan (About Joan, dir: Laurent Larivière). Huppert is one of the most versatile actors in the world, and has played an impressive range of characters in almost 150 cinema and television productions.

Along the Way by award-winning Dutch director Mijke de Jong will open the on-site 51st edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on January 26, 2022. This moving yet unsentimental feature is based on the story of daring, young Afghan twins Nahid and Malihe – who the filmmaker met during her volunteer work at Moria refugee camp, on the Greek island of Lesbos. The festival invites audiences, press and industry guests to attend film screenings, performances and installations in Rotterdam from January 26 to February 6, 2022, subject to the latest governmental regulations,

The Las Vegas Film Critics Society (LVFCS) named Belfast the best film of 2021, Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) won for Best Documentary and Flee won for Best International Film.

A24 released the official trailer for Everything Everywhere All at Once, Daniels epic and emotional new film starring Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., with James Hong and Jamie Lee Curtis. Everything Everywhere All at Once will have its world premiere as the opening night film of SXSW on March 11, 2022, and opens in theaters on March 25, 2021.

Academy Award® winning actress Nicole Kidman will receive the Career Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for her performance in Being the Ricardos. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden announced the annual selection of 25 movies to be inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress for 2021. Selected for their cultural, historic or aesthetic importance to preserve the nation’s film heritage, the newest selections include major roles for Jennifer Lopez and Cicely Tyson, extraordinary animated features, comedy and music, and films that took on racially-motivated violence against people of color decades ago.

Kino Lorber released the official trailer for Brighton 4, Georgia’s Official Submission to the 94th Academy Awards; and winner of Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Actor at 2021 Tribeca Film Festival. Directed by Levan Koguashvil, the film tells the story of Kakhi, a Georgian ex-wrestler who travels from Tbilisi to Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, to help his son Soso find a way out of a gambling debt.
