Samuel Goldwyn Films and Shudder have teamed up to acquire Adam Egypt Mortimer’s dark thriller Daniel Isn’t Real starring Patrick Schwarzenegger (“The Long Road Home”, “Midnight Sun”) and Miles Robbins (“Blockers,” David Gordon Green’s “Halloween”) alongside Sasha Lane (“American Honey,” “Hearts Beat Loud”), Hannah Marks (“Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency”) and Mary Stuart Masterson (“Blindspot”). The film will come to theaters and VOD late 2019.

Seven narrative feature films in various stages of production will receive a total of $200,000 in funding in Spring 2019 SFFILM Rainin Grants from SFFILM, in partnership with the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, to support the next stage of their creative process, from screenwriting to post-production.

The TIFF Tribute Gala, an annual awards fundraiser will take place Monday, September 9 at the Fairmont Royal York during the 44th Toronto International Film Festival and will introduce the new TIFF Impact Award. RLJE Films has partnered with Shudder to release the thriller GWEN in theaters, VOD and Digital HD on August 16, 2019 prior to its release on the premium streaming platform. Traverse City Film Festival released the 2019 program marking the 15th Anniversary Year with a “Cinema Saves The World” theme, and featuring over 200 films and events. The Festival opens with BRITTANY RUNS A MARATHON; AFTER THE WEDDING as Centerpiece; and closes with BLINDED BY THE LIGHT.

The Argentine film Rojo directed by Benjamín Naishtat (History of Fear, El Movimiento), winner of the Silver Shell Awards for Best Director and Best Actor and the Jury Award for Best Cinematography at the last edition of the San Sebastián Film Festival will open on Friday, July 12 at Film at Lincoln Center and the Quad Cinema in New York City, and on Friday, July 19 at the Laemmle Royal in Los Angeles, followed by other cities.

Quickie Fest 7, the one-minute movie festival announced its short film slate and Special Jury members for its seventh edition, which will take place this Saturday, June 29th at 7:00PM at NYC’s SVA Theatre. The event will kick off with beer from Brooklyn’s Six Point Brewing (included with every ticket) followed by back-to-back short films, all under a minute long. The evening will conclude with the jury awards.

Detroit’s own Lily Tomlin will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Traverse City Film Festival (TCFF) founded by Oscar®-winning filmmaker Michael Moore. The award will be presented to Tomlin during the festival’s 15th annual edition, running July 30 to August 4. Jane Fonda received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.

The Fantasia International Film Festival unleashed the final wave of films and programming for the 2019 edition of the festival revealing a full lineup featuring over 130 incredible features from across the globe.
