The film also won Best Director of a Borsos Competition Film along with the EDA Award for Best Female Directed Feature for Chloé Leriche, and Best Performance in a Borsos Competition Film for the Ensemble cast

Film at Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art announce the return of the 49th annual New Directors/New Films (ND/NF), rescheduled from March for December 9-20. This year’s festival will introduce 24 features and 10 shorts virtually to audiences nationwide, with films scheduled over the course of 12 days and screening exclusively in the FLC Virtual Cinema.
The 43rd Denver Film Festival (DFF43) kicks off tonight, Opening Night, October 22 with Searchlight’s NOMADLAND. The film will also receive DFF43’s Rare Pearl Award which will be accepted by director, Chloé Zhao, in a video presentation before the film screening. The Rare Pearl Award highlights a film whose beauty and uniqueness stand out as finest of the year. Recent Rare Pearl Award winners include Portrait of a Lady on Fire (DFF42) and Roma (DFF41).
Due to Covid-19 and the related restrictions, the European Film Academy is announcing the EFA Feature Film Selection 2020 in two steps. Today, EFA revealed the titles of the 32 films in the first part, the second part will be announced in September. This will allow the inclusion of films that would have premiered by May 31, 2020 – be it at a festival or at a regular cinema – but could not due to the pandemic, provided they will premiere theatrically or online before the end of November 2020. Together, the films from part 1 and 2 form the EFA Feature Film Selection, the list of feature-length fiction films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2020. The films have been selected by a committee consisting of the EFA Board and invited experts.

This year’s 49th annual New Directors/New Films (ND/NF) will introduce 27 features and 10 short films to New York audiences from March 25 to April 5.
The 43rd Portland International Film Festival (PIFF 43) announced the lineup featuring 10 days of films, talks, workshops, performances, and special events throughout Portland from March 6 to 15, 2020. The program showcases over 120 films from 40 countries, with sneak previews of upcoming releases including Sony Pictures Classics’ The Climb, Disney/Pixar’s Onward, Searchlight’s David Copperfield, Oscilloscope’s Clementine, and A24’s First Cow.
Winners of the awards at the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) were announced during the Closing Ceremony. The Grand Prix went to the Danish film Uncle. Director Frelle Petersen spoke about his struggles making the film: “We felt we had already won when we found out we were selected to compete in the Tokyo International Film Festival,” he said. “We were hung over the next day, because it was such a great reason for celebrating.”
