British-Irish director Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin leads the nominations for the 43rd annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards, with nine nominations, followed closely with eight nominations, by Scottish debut filmmaker Charlotte Wells’ coming-of-age story Aftersun.
Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun, a moving portrait of a father and daughter leads the winners of the 2022 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) Craft Awards winning three prizes including Best Cinematography for Gregory Oke, Best Editing for Blair McClendon and Best Music Supervision for Lucy Bright.
At its 52nd edition, International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) will celebrate radical filmmakers and visual artists including Hungarian filmmaker Judit Elek, Japanese animator Yuasa Masaaki,and American interdisciplinary artist Stanya Kahn. The 66th BFI London Film Festival (LFF) announced the full program line-up of films, series and immersive art works from over 63 countries with 41% of the program made by female and non-binary directors/creators or co-directors/creators and 34% made by ethnically diverse directors/creators.
Rounding out the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival lineup is TIFF Industry Selects, a curated selection of 10 audience friendly films beyond the Official Selection that are available for worldwide acquisition. These films will each have an in-person screening during the Festival for accredited buyers and industry professionals..
