Flee, Jonas Poher Rasmussen’s animated documentary took the top prize at the 15th Annual Cinema Eye Honors, winning the award for Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Filmmaking. Jessica Kingdon’s Ascension won three awards, the most of the evening, for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography, Original Score and Debut Feature. Both films have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

The Indiana Film Journalists Association named Mass as Best Film of the Year, along with Best Original Screenplay for Fran Kranz, the first-time writer/director who also was named Breakout of the Year, and Best Ensemble Acting for the cast of Reed Birney, Ann Dowd, Jason Isaacs and Martha Plimpton.

The animated documentary Flee from Danish/French filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen lead the nominations for the 15th Cinema Eye Honors awards with seven nominations, including Outstanding Nonfiction Feature and Direction.

The 30th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) will be held November 4-21, 2021 in a hybrid format — with virtual screenings along with in-person screenings on all three screens of the Tivoli Theatre from November 4-14 and November 18-21.

“Americanish” from director Iman Zawahry snagged the $20,000 Narrative Feature Grand Prize and “All These Sons” from Academy Award® nominee Bing Liu (“Minding the Gap” 2018) and Joshua Altman was awarded the $20,000 Documentary Feature Grand Prize at the 30th Heartland International Film Festival.

AFI FEST unveiled the full lineup for this year’s festival including Parallel Mothers, written and directed by Academy Award® winner Pedro Almodóvar, which will screen as a Red Carpet Premiere at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre on Saturday, November 13.

The 24th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival returns in-person and virtually from October 23–30, 2021 with 157 films, including 45 narrative feature films, 15 documentary feature films and 97 shorts – with 63 of these films directed by women.
