
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the feature films eligible for consideration in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature Film and International Feature Film categories for the 97th Academy Awards.

Following the nation-wide protests against the murder of George Floyd, elected Mayor of Baltimore Brandon Scott promised to make the city a better place by reducing gun-violence. ‘The Body Politic’ is a documentary following Scott’s first year in office as he introduces plans that will reduce gun-violence happening in the city of Baltimore.

The 2024 DocLands Documentary Film Festival taking place Thursday, May 2 – Sunday, May 5, 2024, unveiled the lineup of films including world premieres of From Here/From There (De Aquí/De Allá), I Hope This Helps!, Make A Circle, and Not Just A Goof, alongside the North American Premiere of Living with Wolves and the US premieres of 500 Days in The Wild and Hunt for the Oldest DNA.

The 48th annual Atlanta Film Festival + Creative Conference (ATLFF) will take place Thursday, April 25 – Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the Plaza Theatre and Tara Theatre in Atlanta and virtually.

The 21st annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival returns February 16-25, 2024 in Missoula, Montana featuring over 150 nonfiction films, and a virtual program streaming online February 19-29.

The 32nd Heartland International Film Festival (HIFF) announced the 2023 award winners with major cash prizes going to “Simón” from Director Diego Vicentini ($20,000 Narrative Feature Grand Prize), “We Dare to Dream” from Waad al-Kateab ($20,000 Documentary Feature Grand Prize), and “Hard Miles” from Director RJ Daniel Hanna ($5,000 Jimmy Stewart Legacy Award).
