The Falconer directed by Adam Sjöberg and Seanne Winslow won the award for Best Film at the 22nd edition of the Newport Beach Film Festival, along with Best Cinematographer for Nicholas Bupp and Best Screenwriter for Adam Sjöberg / Seanne Winslow; and Best Documentary went to SET!

The French drama Happening (L’Evenement) directed by Audrey Diwan is the winner of the Golden Lion for Best Film at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. The film, based on the Annie Ernaux’s novel of the same name, recounts the journey of a young woman’s physical and emotional battle to access illegal abortion in a desperate race against the clock.

Mill Valley Film Festival announced the lineup of 118 films – 65 features and 53 shorts, for the 44th edition of the festival headlined by Joe Wright’s Cyrano as opening night film, Mike Mills’ C’mon C’mon, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the Centerpiece film and Wes Anderson’s star-studded The French Dispatch as closing night film.

Italian director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino will give a masterclass and present his latest film The Hand of God at the 69th edition of the San Sebastian Festival. The author of The Great Beauty (La grande bellezza ) will talk about his latest film and its connections with the seventh art.
