Sean Baker’s Anora Wins 5 Awards – Named Best Film of 2024 at Austin Film Critics Association Awards
Anora directed by Sean Baker (courtesy BFI LFF) Anora won 5 awards at the 2024 Austin Film Critics Association Awards, including Best Film, Best Director along with Best Original Screenplay for Sean Baker, Best Actress for Mikey Madison, and Best Supporting Actor for Yura Borisov. Madison was also one of five recipients of this year’s Robert R. “Bobby” McCurdy Memorial Breakthrough Award.

Mohammad Rasoulof to Attend Premiere of ‘The Seed of the Sacred Fig’ at Göteborg Film Festival
Mohammad Rasoulof © Films Boutique Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof will attend the 2025 Göteborg Film Festival, and present his film, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, which is banned in Iran. The Seed of the Sacred Fig is the centerpiece of the festival’s Focus: Disobedience and will have its premiere on January 30 followed by a Directors Talk with Rasoulof. Mohammad Rasoulof is also featured as the screenwriter of Seven Days by Ali Samadi Ahadi, which will be shown during the Göteborg Film Festival.
