From November 12 to 21, the 34th edition of exground filmfest will present over 150 films from 47 countries in its traditional Wiesbaden venues. As in the previous year, the festival will also feature an on-demand program and the exground filmfest YouTube channel will also once again serve as a platform for various live and archived event streams, including the festival opening and awards ceremony, as well as industry events and film talks.
26 films representing 26 European countries will be featured at the 10th annual Calgary European Film Festival (CEFF), taking place at Globe Cinema and Online from November 6-14, 2021.
IFC Films will release Official Competition (Competencia oficial), the Spanish comedy film starring Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas alongside Oscar Martínez and José Luis Gómez. Directed by Mariano Cohn, the film had its world premiere at the 2021 Venice Film Festival in competition, where it earned glowing reviews. IFC Films will release the film in 2022.
In addition to showcasing over 300 films, the 2021 Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) will honor Rosanna Arquette, Winston Duke, Regina Hall, Harvey Keitel, Thomasin McKenzie, Simon Rex and Jeffrey Wright. The 22nd edition of the Festival will be held in person from October 21-28, 2021.
The 10th Key West Film Festival announced its official 2021 lineup including films from Jane Campion, Sean Baker, Mike Mills, Pedro Almodovar and Paolo Sorrentino. More than 75 films will be shown during the 5-day festival, which runs November 17-21 and celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

IFC Midnight debuted the official trailer for The Feast, the Welsh horror film starring Annes Elwy, Lisa Palfrey, and Caroline Berry. Directed by Lee Haven Jones, The Feast premiered at SXSW Film Festival and will open in theaters and on-demand on November 19th, 2021.
IFC Films released the official trailer for Kurt Vonnegut: Unstuck in Time, a biography of author Kurt Vonnegut, and the 25-year friendship with the filmmaker Robert Weide, who set out to document it. The documentary plays at DOC NYC from November 11 – 19, 2021 and opens in theaters and on VOD on November 19, 2021.
Simon Rex (Red Rocket) will receive the Spotlight Award and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of the Dog) will receive the Discovery Award during their respective film screenings at the upcoming 24th annual SCAD Savannah Film Festival taking place in person and virtually October 23–30, 2021.
SING 2, the new animated feature film written and directed by Garth Jennings will World Premiere at AFI FEST 2021 as a Red Carpet Premiere. The film will screen in-person at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre on Sunday, November 14 and open in theaters on December 22, 2021.
After showcasing over 115 independent films, the 2021 Festival of Cinema NYC announced this year’s filmmaker award winners with Holger Borggrefe and Stefan Hering’s Two is a Magic Number winning Best Feature Film- Narrative, Loving Mona directed by Terry Katz winning Best Documentary and Samuel Tressler IV’s Leda won Audience Choice for Best Feature Film.
