Neon debuted the official trailer for Together, the supernatural body horror film starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie as Tim and Millie, a pair seeking solace in the countryside to rekindle their strained relationship. Their retreat takes a sinister turn when they are attacked by a supernatural force.

Also starring in the movie are Damon Herriman, Mia Morrissey and Jack Kenny.

Written and directed by Michael Shanks making his directorial debut, Together premiered in the Midnight section at Sundance Film Festival followed by a screening at SXSW; and will open in theaters on July 30, 2025.

Here is the synopsis: Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie (Franco and Brie) find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other. With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh.

Director Michael Shanks drew inspiration from his personal experiences, stating, “There comes a time, I think, in every kind of long-term relationship where we realize, Wow, I’ve been with this person more than I’ve not been with this person. And we live in the same house, we breathe the same air, we eat the same food, we have the same friends.” He continued, “At a certain point we think, I don’t know who I am without her. She maybe doesn’t know who she is without me.”

Critics have lauded Together for its originality with The Guardian review writing, “There’s something refreshingly blunt about what Together is trying to say about the dangers of codependency, a film too busy having fun to waste time writing a self-satisfied dissertation.” It also added, “Given its flesh-stretching, bone-crunching body horror, there will be inevitable comparisons to the awfully overrated Oscar darling The Substance, but I’d say there’s a clearer, smarter and far tighter movie here, Shanks more aware of how to set and maintain rules and structure.”
