Here is the first look teaser trailer for Richard Linklater’s latest film, Nouvelle Vague, a homage to the French New Wave, recreating the behind-the-scenes making of Jean-Luc Godard’s seminal film, Breathless.

The film stars Guillaume Marbeck portraying the visionary director Jean-Luc Godard, Zoey Deutch as the iconic actress Jean Seberg, and Aubry Dullin stepping into the role of Jean-Paul Belmondo. Shot entirely in French and presented in black and white with a 4:3 aspect ratio, Nouvelle Vague immerses viewers in the aesthetic and spirit of 1960s Parisian cinema.

Nouvelle Vague premieres in the main competition at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, vying for the prestigious Palme d’Or prize.

According to the official synopsis: This is the story of Godard making ”Breathless,” told in the style and spirit in which Godard made “Breathless.”

Breathless (À bout de souffle) is a 1960 crime drama film written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard. It stars Jean-Paul Belmondo as a wandering criminal named Michel, and Jean Seberg as his American girlfriend Patricia.
