Roadside debuted the first look – teaser trailer for Buddy, a horror film directed by Casper Kelly, that transforms the comforting world of children’s television into an unsettling nightmare.
The film follows a brave young girl and her friends as they struggle to escape the grip of a beloved TV mascot whose cheerful smile conceals something far more sinister.

Buddy made its world premiere in the Midnight section of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, followed by the 2026 SXSW Film Festival and the Midwest Premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival. Roadside Attractions will release Buddy in U.S. theaters on September 4, 2026.

According to the official synopsis: “A brave girl and her friends must escape a kids’ television show.” While deceptively simple, the premise opens the door to an imaginative blend of horror, dark comedy, and surreal fantasy, placing familiar childhood imagery into an increasingly menacing setting. The trailer hints at bizarre creatures, unsettling performances, and escalating danger as the children attempt to break free from Buddy’s warped television world before it consumes them entirely.
