The Marching Band, the French comedy drama from director Emmanuel Courcol, offers a heartfelt look at a story of unexpected brotherhood, class differences, and the universal language of music.
Starring Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Lottin, and Sarah Suco, the film follows two men from vastly different worlds whose lives are forever changed after discovering they are biological brothers.

The Marching Band (original title En fanfare) made its world premiere in the Cannes Première section of the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, followed by the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, and the American French Film Festival in Los Angeles, where it also captured the Audience Award.
After becoming a major box office success in France, the film is now set to open in U.S. theaters on August 21, 2026, through Greenwich Entertainment.
The synopsis reads, “A world-famous orchestra conductor discovers the brother he never knew he had — a school cafeteria worker who plays trombone in a local marching band. Detecting his brother’s exceptional musical talent, he takes it upon himself to rectify the injustice of fate. An equally hilarious and affecting crowdpleaser that premiered at Cannes and became a French box office sensation, starring Benjamin Lavernhe (My Donkey, My Lover & I) and Pierre Lottin (The Stranger).”
In The Guardian review, critic Peter Bradshaw praised the film as “a good-natured heartwarmer with some syrup, but also two watchable and robust lead performances.”
