A24 debuted the official trailer for Primetime, a gripping drama starring Robert Pattinson as Dateline NBC correspondent Chris Hansen during the explosive rise of To Catch a Predator.
Inspired by real events, Primetime, the latest film from acclaimed filmmaker Lance Oppenheim in his narrative feature debut, also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine, Anna Faris, and Sean Bridgers.
Primetime is set to make its world premiere in Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, before opening in U.S. theaters on September 25, 2026.
According to A24, the official synopsis reads: “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.”
The logline captures the film’s central premise as it revisits the phenomenon that turned hidden-camera sting operations into a cultural sensation while raising enduring questions about justice, morality, and the responsibilities of the media.
