A decade of partying collides with a life-changing discovery in Jordan Firstman’s queer drama Club Kid.
Written, directed, and starring Firstman in his feature directorial debut, the comedy-drama follows Peter, a washed-up New York City club promoter whose whirlwind nightlife existence is upended when he discovers he has a 10-year-old son he never knew existed.
Firstman leads a cast that includes Cara Delevingne, Diego Calva, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Reggie Absolom, Colleen Camp, Miss Benny, Eldar Isgandarov, Vicki Pepperdine, Nigil Whyte, and others.
Club Kid made its world premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it screened in the Un Certain Regard section and competed for the Caméra d’Or and Queer Palm. Club Kid has been selected for the 2026 New York Film Festival Spotlight section, where it will have its New York premiere. Following its festival run, A24 will release Club Kid in U.S. theaters on November 6, 2026.
According to the official synopsis from A24, “A hard-partying New York City club promoter sees his whirlwind lifestyle upended by the arrival of the 10-year-old son he never knew he had.”
The film places Peter inside a world of parties, drugs, hookups, and late-night excess before forcing him to confront a responsibility he never anticipated – the arrival of Arlo, his young son.
Speaking to IndieWire about Club Kid, Firstman said, “Even when you strip back the surface layer of the drugs and the afters going on all weekend, beneath it is a bunch of queer people who are funny and sensitive and broken in some ways and artistic and just fully whole. That’s what I wanted to show.”
In a review from Screen Daily, Wendy Ide wrote, “Jordan Firstman’s crowdpleasing queer family drama is a triumph – an acidic, spikily funny portrait of New York’s hedonistic gay scene which celebrates empathy, community and the unconditional love between a father and his son.” Ide also praised Firstman, adding, “His depiction of queer party culture is loving, authentic and non-judgemental, but also realistic enough not to gloss over the inevitable comedowns that follow the chemically-fuelled highs.”
