‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’ Trailer – Jane Campion-Produced New Zealand Coming-of-Age Drama Sets US Release Date

Blue Fox Entertainment debuted the U.S. trailer for Big Girls Don’t Cry, the New Zealand-set coming-of-age drama and feature directorial debut of Paloma Schneideman.

Executive produced by two-time Oscar-winning director Jane Campion, Big Girls Don’t Cry stars young newcomer Ani Palmer in the lead role, alongside Rain Spencer (Amazon Prime’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, Good Girl Jane), and Noah Taylor (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, HBO’s Game of Thrones).

Big Girls Don’t Cry world premiered at Sundance Film Festival, and then went on to also screen at SXSW and at festivals around the world, including TIFF Next Wave, BFI Flare: London, and most recently the Biarritz Film Festival, where it won the festival’s top prize. It is slated to open in select theaters in the U.S. on October 9, 2026.

Set in New Zealand the summer of 2006, Big Girls Don’t Cry follows 14-year-old Sid, who finds herself caught between her own burgeoning sexual curiosity and the desire for acceptance from an older group of girls. As she delves deeper into rebellion, she leaves behind a trail of destruction, navigating the complexities of adolescence and self-discovery.
