Directed by Mark Cousins, the documentary My Name is Alfred Hitchcock explores the life of one of cinema’s most influential directors. Ahead of the release, Cohen Media Group brought back Hitchcock’s most iconic films back to the big screen for an Alfred Hitchcock Retrospective program.
My Name is Alfred Hitchcock, world premiered earlier this year at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, and will open at The event will take place in theaters on Friday, October 25, 2024. (see listing below)
The documentary features a fictional narration by British actor Alistair McGowan, voicing Hitchcock himself as he reflects on his monumental body of work.
The synopsis of the documentary reads: A century after the debut of Alfred Hitchcock’s first feature, he remains one of the most influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. But how does his vast body of work and legacy hold up in today’s world?
Mark Cousins, the award-winning filmmaker behind Women Make Film, The Storms of Jeremy Thomas, and The Story of Film: A New Generation, tackles this question and looks at the auteur with a new and radical approach: through the use of his own voice. As Hitchcock rewatches his films, we are taken on an odyssey through his vast career – his vivid silent films, the legendary films of the 1950s and 60s and his later works – in playful and revealing ways.
