Gunpowder & Sky acquired U.S. rights to filmmaker Neasa Hardiman’s critically-acclaimed Irish sci-fi/thriller Sea Fever following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Gunpowder & Sky will release the film theatrically in the U.S. in early 2020 through its sci-fi label, DUST.
Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope directed by Viva Van Loock
The new documentary Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope follows Pulitzer Prize winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn on a deeply personal journey examining some of the most crucial challenges facing Americans today. Tightrope: Americans Reaching for Hope directed by Viva Van Loock will have its World Premiere at DOC NYC.
Martha Shane’s Narrowsburg, a darkly comic story of a mystery couple with Hollywood dreams who turns a tiny upstate town upside down will have its New York Premiere at 2019 DOC NYC. The film is set to screen on November 10.

Canadian filmmaker Trista Suke’s FOXY won the Best Feature Film Award at the first edition of the Texas-based Billy the Kid Film Festival. George Meyers’ NOT YOUR DAY, and Jay Pennington and Gerry Olert’s SMILE shared the Audience Choice Award.

Opening Night Film Just Mercy, with Michael B. Jordan as social justice warrior Brian Stevenson and Jamie Foxx as one of the first wrongly-convicted death row inmates he fought for, won the Virginia Film Festival Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature. Earning the audience award for Best Documentary Feature was Sing You a Brand New Song, a story about how the power of love and music can transcend even tragedy.
Steed directed by Erdenebileg Ganbold won the award for Best Feature Film at the 18th San Diego International Film Festival. 15 films received awards from the festival at the Filmmaker Awards night including Breaking Their Silence, Women on the Frontline of the Poaching War directed by Kerry David win Best Documentary, and 100 Days to Live directed by Ravin Gandhi winning for Best World Premiere.
Returning for its 19th edition from December 4 to 8, the Whistler Film Festival (WFF) will showcase 86 fresh films, comprising of 43 features and 43 shorts from 15 countries.

The documentary Breaking Point: The War for Democracy in Ukraine directed by Academy award winning documentarian Mark Jonathan Harris, tracks the war in Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea all the way to the first revolution at Maidan square. It also covers the Russian propaganda machine and their faux-insurgent tactics to orchestrate a “civil war” on camera.
