    The Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston) announced the full lineup of films that will screen at the 2021 festival set to take place virtually online from May 6th – May 16, 2021. “Summer of Soul” directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson will open the festival on Thursday May 6th and “How It Ends” directed by Zoe Lister-Jones and Darryl Wein will close the festival on Sunday, May 16th.

    LUCE directed by Julius Onah, will open the 17th IFFBoston on Wednesday, April 24 at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square. A married couple (Naomi Watts & Tim Roth) is forced to reckon with their idealized image of their son, adopted from war-torn Eritrea, after an alarming discovery by a devoted high school teacher (Octavia Spencer) threatens his status as an all-star student.

  • Independent Film Festival Boston Reveals 2014 Film Lineup; Fest to Open with “Beneath The Harvest Sky” and Close With “Mood Indigo”

    The Independent Film Festival Boston unveiled the film lineup, including the opening and closing night films for this year’s festival taking place April 23 and April 30, 2014.

    Kicking off the festival this year will be Beneath The Harvest Sky, written and directed by Aron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly, which tells a teen drama set during the fall potato harvest in a small northern Maine town. Closing the festival will be the French film, Mood Indigo, directed by Michael Gondry, and starring Audrey Tautou, which follows a woman who suffers from an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs.

    THIS IS MARTIN BONNER directed by Chad Hartigan, and DIRTY WARS directed by Richard Rowle took the top independent films awards at the 2013 Independent Film Festival Boston (IFFBoston) which  came to a close on Tuesday night, April 30th. THIS IS MARTIN BONNER about ‘two men from different walks of life form a tentative connection that slowly grows into friendship’ received the Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature, and DIRTY WARS which explores the “… two wars being waged in the Middle East: the one widely covered by the media, and the covert war nobody ever hears about” received the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary Feature.

  • “The Spectacular Now” to Open and Lake Bell’s “In a World …” to Close 2013 Independent Film Festival Boston

    The Independent Film Festival of Boston (IFFBoston) taking place April 24 – April 30, 2013, announced the films that will be featured at the eleventh annual festival.  

    The festival will take place at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square, the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square, the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, and new venues UMass Boston and Theatre 1 at Revere Hotel in Boston. 

    The Independent Film Festival Boston earlier this year revealed that actor Casey Affleck, will be the new Creative Advisor for the 2013 edition of the festival. Casey Affleck will serve a multi-faceted role which includes outreach to talent, connecting the festival with local charities, and advising on festival growth. 

    THE SPECTACULAR NOW directed by James Ponsoldt will open the 11th annual festival on April 24th at the Somerville Theatre, and “IN A WORLD…” written, directed, and starring Lake Bell, will close the festival on Tuesday April 30th.

    Other notable films screening at the festival include:
