The Homage section of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival will be dedicated to French film and stage actor Isabelle Huppert, who will be awarded an Honorary Golden Bear for lifetime achievement. In conjunction with the Award Ceremony on February 15, 2022 at the Berlinale Palast, the festival will screen as Berlinale Special Gala À propos de Joan (About Joan, dir: Laurent Larivière). Huppert is one of the most versatile actors in the world, and has played an impressive range of characters in almost 150 cinema and television productions.

Along the Way by award-winning Dutch director Mijke de Jong will open the on-site 51st edition of International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on January 26, 2022. This moving yet unsentimental feature is based on the story of daring, young Afghan twins Nahid and Malihe – who the filmmaker met during her volunteer work at Moria refugee camp, on the Greek island of Lesbos. The festival invites audiences, press and industry guests to attend film screenings, performances and installations in Rotterdam from January 26 to February 6, 2022, subject to the latest governmental regulations,

Academy Award® winning actress Nicole Kidman will receive the Career Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards for her performance in Being the Ricardos. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.

The Jewish Museum and Film at Lincoln Center will present the 31st annual New York Jewish Film Festival (NYJFF) in person and virtually from January 12 through 25, 2022. The NYJFF lineup showcases 33 wide-ranging and exciting features and shorts (24 features and nine shorts), including the latest works by dynamic voices in international cinema, as well as the world premiere of a new 4K restoration of the 1984 film Kaddish by Steve Brand.

The 2022 Sundance Film Festival announced the Short Film program well as the “From the Collection” program, a line-up of 40 short films that will screen online during the Festival to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the nonprofit Sundance Institute. The 2022 short films will all screen in programs or preceding features in-person in Utah, the majority of them will screen online along with the 40th collection, and a small collection will screen in person at seven Satellite Screens venues around the country during the Festival’s second weekend.. South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Film Festival will open with the world premiere of Everything Everywhere All At Once at the upcoming 29th edition, on March 11, 2022 in Austin, Texas. The 33rd annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will open with the screening of Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over, directed by Dave Wooley and David Heilbroner, on Friday, January 7, with both directors and Dionne Warwick in attendance. The festival will close with The Duke, directed by the late filmmaker Roger Michell on Sunday, January 16. The festival will screen 129 films from 70 countries, including 32 premieres (4 World, 7 North American, 2 International and 19 U.S.) from January 6-17, 2022.
