The 32nd Filmfest Dresden international short film festival in Dresden, Germany, announced the winners of its National and International Competitions at the awards ceremony in the Schauburg Dresden festival cinema.

The award-winning dramatic short film “Ladies Most Deject,” directed by Martha Elcan, will compete at the upcoming Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) which will run September 8 – 13, 2020. It will be part of the festival’s Narrative Shorts Block II and will be virtually screened beginning on September 8.

Tayler Montague’s debut short film In Sudden Darkness, set during 2003 NYC blackout, will receive its NY premiere at the 2020 New York Film Festival, in the Currents section (Program #8: New York Stories). The film will also receive its international premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival, and had its world premiere at the 2020 Blackstar Film Festival.

Thirteen short films – seven by male filmmakers and six by female filmmakers, from schools in Argentina, Cuba, Germany, India, Spain, the UK and the USA, will be showcased in the XIX edition of Nest, San Sebastian Festival’s international competition for short films by film students.

The animated film The Power of Hope will be in Shorts By The Sea in September and features a song by 13-year-old filmmaker Kalia Love Jones and co- writer Grammy-nominated producer Ben Franklin.
