The Christmas Gift directed by Bogdan Muresanu The 2019 Palm Springs International ShortFest announced its Festival juried award winners with the Romanian film The Christmas Gift, directed by Bogdan Muresanu, winning the Best of Festival Award. The prize for Best International Short went to Guaxuma directed by Nara Normande; and Manila is Full of Men Named Boy directed by Andrew Stephen Lee won for Best U.S. Short.

Continuance Pictures Reveals Top 25 Script Submissions for 1st Continue Short Film Initiative
Continuance Pictures has selected the Top 25 script submissions for the first Continue Short Film Initiative, which aims to establish a platform for Australian talent and provide opportunities for emerging filmmakers everywhere. Unexpectedly, the Continue initiative proved popular internationally, with filmmakers from all corners of the globe submitting their film and television scripts. A third of submissions came from female screenwriters, and of the top 25 finalists, over a third were written by women.

25th Palm Springs ShortFest Announces Star Studded Film Line-up
The Big Break The 25th annual Palm Springs International ShortFest will showcase 369 films including 60 World Premieres, 25 International Premieres, 46 North American Premieres, 17 U.S. Premieres and 98 California Premieres. There are 60 curated programs, which will screen June 18-24, at the Camelot Theatres (Palm Springs Cultural Center) in Palm Springs.

HISTORY OF MEMORY, HP’s Tribeca Award-Winning Short Film Series, Available in Summer
Director Sarah Klein, actor Lance Gross, and director Tom Mason at the world premiere of HP’s History of Memory, winner of the Tribeca X Award, during the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival Fresh off the heels of winning a Tribeca X award for best episodic short series, HP Inc. struck a deal to distribute its film series The History of Memory through Cinedigm’s dedicated documentary channel Docurama by July.
