    The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has voted to present Academy Honorary Awards to Debbie Allen, Tom Cruise and Wynn Thomas, and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Dolly Parton. The four Oscar® statuettes will be presented at the Academy’s 16th Governors Awards on November 16, 2025.

    Legendary actor Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, were discovered dead at their residence in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at approximately 1:45 p.m., arriving at the couple’s home on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park, where they found both Hackman and Arakawa, along with their dog, dead at the scene.
