The 75th Berlin International Film Festival will celebrate the offbeat and the wacky, mix it up with action, thrills, and graphic visuals of genre films from East and West Germany made in the 1970s, by showcasing 15 films in the Retrospective themed “Wild, Weird, Bloody”.
Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for The Only Girl in the Orchestra, a short documentary that tells the story of double bassist Orin O’Brien. Directed by her niece, Molly O’Brien, the film follows Orin’s journey as the first woman to become a full-time member of the New York Philharmonic, performing under the direction of the legendary conductor Leonard Bernstein.

Kneecap, the comedy film following the west Belfast hip-hop trio leads the nominations for British Independent Film Awards 2024 with 14 nominations, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, The Douglas Hickox Award (Best Debut Director) and and Best Debut Screenwriter for Rich Peppiatt. The Kneecap trio Liam Óg Ó Hannaidh, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, JJ Ó Dochartaigh are nominated for Best Joint Lead Performance. The film is also nominated for eight craft categories.
Emilia Pérez and The Room Next Door lead the nominations for the 37th European Film Awards with four nominations including the top honor of European Film. Emilia Pérez also received nominations for European Director and European Screenwriter for Jacques Audiard, and European Actress for Karla Sofía Gascón.
Colman Domingo will be honored with the Spotlight Award, Actor for his performance in Sing Sing at the Palm Springs International Film Award.

It was written by Tom Evans (Bring Him To Me).
The new crime comedy film Too Many Crooks starring William H. Macy (Fargo, Shameless) will make its world market premiere and be introduced to distributors from across the globe at American Film Market (AFM).
All We Imagine as Light directed by Payal Kapadia snagged the jury’s Fiction Feature Prize at the 2024 Montclair Film Festival. Soundtrack to a Coup D’etat directed by Johan Gimonprez won the Bruce Sinofsky Award for Documentary Feature Competition.
