Vanessa Hudgen has signed on to join the cast of the independent film, A Virgin Mary, reports HollywoodLife.com. The film is described as a coming of age story about a teenage girl named Mary (played by Lily Collins) who makes a vow to have sex with her best guy friend (Carter Jenkins) if they’re still virgins by the time they are 18 years old. Vanessa will play Mary’s “slutty best friend” and Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids) is the fourth lead.
“Young Islands,” the first feature film by written and directed by Kevin Lee Chenault, and shot on a reported microbudget of about $2,000, will have its premiere today in Evansville, Indiana.
The 10th Annual Tiburon International Film Festival (TIFF), is set for April 7-15, 2011 in Tiburon, California. TIFF will be showcasing over 140 films from 55 countries.

“God Bless Ozzy Osbourne” will debut at this year’s Tribeca Flim Festival. The film is a documentary about Ozzy’s life and times, and is said to be “an intimate documentary that delves deep into the life of music icon Ozzy Osbourne. A sober Ozzy has reached a point of clarity as he looks back on a lifetime of unparalleled success, misdiagnosed disease, unrelenting fear and a recurring dependency on drugs and alcohol. This is a film about reconciling the past and looking toward the future.” Directed by Mike Piscitelli and written and produced by Jordan Tappis, it will be the first release from Jack Osbourne’s company, Jacko Productions.
Elektra Luxx is Sebastian Guiterrez’s sequel to a previous film, Women In Trouble. Picking up a month after the events of the first film, the plot centers on the porn star Elektra, played by Carla Gugino, and her struggle to change her lifestyle after discovering she is pregnant. One act of good will Elektra provides for society is teaching a sexual education class for women. A flight attendant Cora, played by Marley Shelton, confronts Elektra after class with lyrics written about Elektra from deceased rock star husband Nick Chapel. In exchange for these lyrics, Cora requests that Elektra seduce her fiancée. While catching them in the act, Cora hopes to feel less guilty about having cheated on her own fiancée. Elektra agrees to play Devil’s advocate, which, after discovering she is pregnant, sends her into a crisis that demands the Mother Mary herself interject. The story branches out to introduce Adrianne Palicki’s (Friday Night Lights) character, a porn star acquainted to Elektra. Her personality leaves you wanting to strangle or dash while her charms and bluntness leave the characters who encounter her shocked yet complacent, if not confused. Though these women make the same type of films, they could not be more diverse, and depart on their separate journeys.
Director Tom McCarthy’s (Station Agent, The Visitor) latest feature film Win Win is a terrific little movie, which just opened Friday. It stars Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan and Bobby Cannavale.
