Hot Docs announced the 26 documentary features that will be a part of this year’s Special Presentations program, a high-profile collection of world and international premieres, award-winners from the recent international festival circuit, and works by master filmmakers, and featuring some star subjects. These films will screen as part of the 2011 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, running April 28 to May 8 in Toronto.
The Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) wrapped on Sunday March 20, 2011 with record-breaking attendance and success. Celebrating international women directors, the festival attracted notable talent from around the world including Mackenzie Phillips (One Day at a Time, American Graffiti), Tyler Blackburn (Pretty Little Liars), Anne Tait (Iron Road) and Mary Harron (American Psycho, I Shot Andy Warhol and The Notorious Betty Page).
Screenwriter and Fort-Worth Native, James V. Hart and writer, actor and producer L.M. Kit Carson will both be in attendance at the upcoming Dallas International Film Festival scheduled to run March 31 – April 10, 2011.

The San Francisco Film Society announced that Frank Pierson will be the recipient of the Kanbar Award for excellence in screenwriting at the 54th San Francisco International Film Festival (April 21 – May 5). The Kanbar Award acknowledges the crucial importance of a script in the production of an exceptional film and is named in honor of Maurice Kanbar, a longtime member of the board of directors of the Film Society, film commissioner and philanthropist with a particular interest in supporting independent filmmakers.
The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) announced the 12 projects selected for Tribeca All Access (TAA) program. Now in its eighth year, TAA was created to help foster and nurture relationships between film industry executives and filmmakers from traditionally underrepresented communities. TAA will present the 12 projects throughout a five-day program taking place during the annual Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by American Express, held from April 20 – May 1, 2011. This year, the program will introduce $10,000 grants for each project along with tailored mentorships to maximize its impact.

Gasparilla International Film Festival revealed today that Jim Kohlberg’s The Music Never Stopped will be the opening film of 2011 festival. The film’s producer will be in attendance for this Southeastern U.S. premier, along with GIFF’s honorary guest, M. Emmet Walsh.

Sundance London, a four-day multi-disciplinary arts festival that will include film screenings, live music performances, discussions, panels and other public cultural programming will be held April 26th – 29th, 2012 at the world’s most popular music and entertainment venue, The O2.
The 8th annual San Francisco Ocean Film Festival announced the six award recipients chosen from its lineup of more than 50 films. Awards include two new categories this year, for best short film as well as best conservation film.
