The 28th Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF) will screen 389 films representing 63 countries, from November 7 to 17. The festival will kick off on Thursday, November 7, with the local premiere of the much-lauded “Marriage Story,” starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, and directed by Noah Baumbach.

Fresh from winning the Runner-Up Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival last week MARRIAGE STORY will open the 30th New Orleans Film Festival.

The 32nd Annual Virginia Film Festival will feature more than 150 films, including independent films along with hotly anticipated titles including Harriet, Just Mercy, Western Stars, Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story, The Two Popes, The Report, Clemency, and Portrait Of A Lady On Fire. This year’s lineup also includes award-winning actor, writer, and director Ethan Hawke, noted actor Ann Dowd, international bestselling author John Grisham, actor Dennis Christopher, acclaimed filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu – plus more than 100 filmmakers in all.

Some of the top awards contenders from the festival circuit will be showcased at the 2019 Twin Cities Film Fest (TCFF) set to take place October 16-26 at the Kerasotes ShowPlace ICON Theatres at The Shops at West End. TCFF 2019 marks the organization’s 10th anniversary and arrives with a special focus on both female filmmakers and films that advance this year’s social justice cause: environmental sustainability.

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) unveiled the full slate of films for the 2019 edition, including additional spotlight films – Tom Harper’s THE AERONAUTS, Marc Meyers’ HUMAN CAPITAL, Scott Z. Burns’ gripping post 9/11 drama THE REPORT; François Girard’s THE SONG OF NAMES; and Bruce Springsteen and Thom Zimny’s concert documentary WESTERN STARS.

Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit starring Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, Thomasin McKenzie, and newcomer Roman Griffin Davis won the top prize – the Grolsch People’s Choice Award at the 42nd Toronto International Film Festival. In the comedic satire, a young German boy discovers a Jewish girl hiding in his home and consults with his imaginary best friend, Adolf Hitler.

WAVES directed by Trey Edward Shults, presents the lives of a suburban African-American family as they navigate life following a tragic loss. The film stars Emmy Award-winning actor Sterling K. Brown, Tony Award-winning actress Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Academy Award nominee Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell, and Alexa Demie will close the 2019 Hamptons International Film Festival.
