The 22nd San Francisco Documentary Film Festival (SF DocFest) will be held June 1 – 11, 2023; and screen 39 features and 47 shorts. The festival opens with Christine Yoo’s 26.2 To Life and Fantastic Negrito: Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? directed by Yvan Iturriaga, Francisco Nuñez Capriles.
Described as “visually stunning, dreamlike and intimate,” the award-winning documentary film Museum Of The Revolution tells the story of a community living in the remains of an unfinished utopian project in Belgrade.
The 28th Sarajevo Film Festival closed with the world premiere of film May Labour Day by Pjer Žalica. Safe Place by Croatian director Juraj Lerotić won the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Feature Film along with Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actor for Juraj Lerotić. A traumatic event, a sudden suicide attempt, tears the fabric of a family of three in the film inspired by personal experience of the director, Jurja Lerotić, who also won the Best Actor prize for playing the main role in the film.
51 films will compete for the Heart of Sarajevo awards at the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival taking place from August 12th to 19th, 2022. The Festival’s four competition sections – for feature, documentary, short and student film – will feature 21 world, 7 international, 1 European, 21 regional and 1 B&H premiere.
The 2021 International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) unveiled the selected films in premiere-only sections Luminous and Frontlight, along with its first competition selections in the IDFA Competition for Short Documentary and the IDFA Competition for Youth Documentary. IDFA also announced the selected titles in interdisciplinary program IDFA on Stage, chief among them the world premiere of the newly restored Dziga Vertov film The History of the Civil War. The 34th edition of IDFA takes place from November 17 to 28 in Amsterdam.
