Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF) announced the full schedule of films and panels for the 26th annual Festival, this October 24-31.
Paradise Without People (2019)
Taimaa, 25, and Nour, 23, never expected to give birth and raise children far from the homes they fled in Syria. We meet the two women in a hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece, and follow them as they experience the tender joys of motherhood and the painful frustrations of seeking asylum in Europe. At times poignant, tender, and infuriating, this intimate examination of a new mother’s choices offers an unblinking look at what being an asylum-seeker is really like.

2019 DOC NYC Unveils Record Lineup of Over 300 Films, Opens with ONCE WERE BROTHERS
Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and The Band, Daniel Roher DOC NYC, America’s largest documentary festival, announced the full lineup for its expanded tenth anniversary edition, running November 6-15 at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village and Chelsea’s SVA Theatre and Cinépolis Chelsea. The 2019 festival includes 136 feature-length documentaries among over 300 films and events overall, making this landmark year DOC NYC’s biggest edition yet.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD directed by Marielle Heller The Heartland International Film Festival announced the official selections for its 28th edition, taking place October 10-20. Marielle Heller’s Tom Hanks’ starrer A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD was chosen as the Opening Night Gala film, and Destin Daniel Cretton’s JUST MERCY will screen as the Closing Night Gala selection. Noah Baumbach’s MARRIAGE STORY is set to be the Centerpiece Screening, and Fernando Meirelles’ THE TWO POPES will be the Showcase Screening.

Marriage Story The Woodstock Film Festival will celebrate its landmark 20th Anniversary, from October 2 to 6, 2019 in the historic Hudson Valley towns of Woodstock, Rhinebeck, Kingston, Saugerties, and Rosendale. This year’s festival lineup will showcase more than 50 features from around the world, as well as many short films, and will include panels, live performances, and other special events.
