The Power of the Dog came out on top at the 2022 Music City Film Critics’ Association (MCFCA) Film Awards with four awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Screenplay. Dune comes away with the second-most awards with three, including Best Score, Best Sound, and Best Production Design.

The Chicago Indie Critics announced the winners of their sixth annual film awards and after leading the field with nine nominations, The Power of the Dog emerged as the top winner with three CIC awards. The Netflix western drama won for Best Studio film and earned three trophies for Jane Campion, one as a producer of the film and the other two for her direction and adaptation of Thomas Savage’s novel.

The St. Louis Film Critics Association awarded Paul Thomas Anderson’s Licorice Pizza the honor of Best Film of 2021 along with Best Comedy Film. The Power of the Dog snagged the most honors, winning Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Jane Campion; Best Supporting Actor for Kodi Smit-McPhee; and Best Cinematography.

“Belfast” along with “West Side Story” lead this year’s film contenders for the 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards, earning eleven nominations each. In addition to Best Picture, “Belfast” racked up several acting nominations including Best Supporting Actor nods for both Jamie Dornan and Ciarán Hinds, Best Supporting Actress for Caitríona Balfe, Best Young Actor/Actress for Jude Hill, and Best Acting Ensemble, while Kenneth Branagh could take home both the Best Director and Best Original Screenplay trophies. “Belfast” also earned nominations for Haris Zambarloukos for Best Cinematography, Jim Clay and Claire Nia Richards for Best Production Design, and Úna Ní Dhonghaíle for Best Editing.

Joe Wright’s Cyrano was named Best Picture of 2021 by the Detroit Film Critics Society along with Best Actor for Peter Dinklage. Best Actress honors went to Jessica Chastain, The Eyes of Tammy Faye. In other categories, Flee and Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised) tied for Best Documentary.

Jessica Chastain will be honored with the Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actress for her performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye at the Palm Springs International Film Awards. The Film Awards will take place in-person on January 6, 2022 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through January 17, 2022.

The Eyes of Tammy Faye directed by Michael Showalter will open and Marvel Studios’ Eternals will close the sixteenth Rome Film Fest taking place October 14 – 24, 2021. Rome Film Fest will also celebrate Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Searchlight Pictures released the official trailer for the drama film The Eyes of Tammy Faye, starring Andrew Garfield and Jessica Chastain as televangelist Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Directed by Michael Showalter, the film opens in theaters on September 17, 2021
