Saban Films released the trailer for Will Forbes’ directorial debut, John Henry starring Terry Crews (Deadpool 2, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and Ludacris (The Fast and Furious franchise, Show Dogs).
The indie action drama film also co-starring Jamila Velazquez (Empire), Ken Foree, Tyler Alvarez, and JJ Soria (The Oath) will open in theaters, digital, and on-demand on January 24.
“John Henry” is a modern adaptation of the African-American folk hero and follows John Henry (Terry Crews) after he abandons his former life for a more peaceful one in Los Angeles. Ex-gang member, John Henry, traded violence for a quieter life taking care of his aging father (Ken Foree) in South Los Angeles. Henry meets two immigrant children running from his former gang leader (Chris “Ludacris: Bridges) and has to decide whether to revisit his troubled past to help give the two children a better future.
