Ahead of its world premiere at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight (Quinzaine des cinéastes), The Match Factory has closed multiple distribution deals for the Christian Petzold’s feature film Miroirs No. 3.

Metrograph Pictures will distribute the film in North America, in addition, The Match Factory has successfully secured distribution in France (Les Films du Losange), Benelux (Imagine Film Distribution), South Korea (M&M International), Austria (Stadtkino Filmverleih), Turkey (Yeni Bir Film), Portugal (Leopardo Filmes.), Former Yugoslavia (Demiurg), Romania (Independenta film), and the Baltics (A-One Film).

According to the synopsis: On a weekend trip to the countryside, Laura, a piano student from Berlin, miraculously survives a car crash. Physically unhurt but deeply shaken, she is taken in by a local woman who witnessed the accident and now cares for Laura with motherly devotion. When her husband and adult son also give up their initial resistance to Laura’s presence, the four of them slowly build up some family-like routine and spend some days of happiness together. But soon they can no longer ignore their past, and Laura has to come to terms with her own life

Following his work on the Berlinale Grand Jury Prize winning Afire, this marks the fourth collaboration between the director and Silver Bear-winning actress Paula Beer, who earned the award for her performance in his film Undine (Berlinale 2020). The cast also includes Barbara Auer (The Book Thief, Yella), Matthias Brandt (Transit, Farewell to Europe) and Enno Trebs (Afire, The White Ribbon).`
