The independent biopic film Critical Thinking, the feature directorial debut of actor John Leguizamo, released the first official trailer ahead of its release by Vertical Entertainment who recently acquired the film.

The film is based on the true story of teacher Mario Martinez and his national championship winning chess team at Miami Jackson High School.

Critical Thinking which was set to World Premiere at the now cancelled SXSW will be released on VOD/Digital on September 4, 2020

Based on a true story from 1998, five LatinX and Black teenagers from the toughest underserved ghetto in Miami fight their way into the National Chess Championship under the guidance of their unconventional but inspirational teacher.

Leguizamo stars in the film as Mario Martinez, along with Michael K. Williams, Rachel Bay Jones, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Angel Bismark Curiel, Will Hochman, Corwin Tuggles, Jeffry Batista, Zora Casebere and Ramses Jimenez.
