Actress Jane Seymour will receive the SFiFF Lifetime Achievement Award before introducing the film Somewhere in Time (1980) at the Lensic Performing Arts Center Friday, October 18th at 6:30 pm. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented during the 11th Annual Santa Fe Independent Film Festival, October 16th-20th, 2019 in downtown Santa Fe.

Homeward (Evge) directed by Nariman Aliev has been selected by Ukraine to represent the country in the 2020 Oscars in Best International Feature Film category. The film tells the story of a Crimean Tatar man, Mustafa (Akhtem Seitablaev), who is coming back to the Russia-annexed Crimea to bury his elder son (Remzi Bilyalov) who died in the Donbas war.

For its 30th anniversary, the Oscar-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival will showcase a slate of 232 visionary, thought-provoking films from October 16 through October 23, 2019. The festival will close with Harriet biopic about renowned abolitionist Harriet Tubman, and the Tribeca Film Festival award-winning film Burning Cane, directed by 19-year-old Phillip Youmans, will serve as the Centerpiece Film.

The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) will open the 2019 festival on Thursday, October 10, at Guild Hall, with the East Coast Premiere of JUST MERCY. A powerful and thought-provoking true story, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, JUST MERCY follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) and his history-making battle for justice as he fights a merciless legal system stacked against him and his clients at every turn. The film also stars Jamie Foxx, Rob Morgan, Tim Blake Nelson, Rafe Spall, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Karan Kendrick and Brie Larson.
