The Santa Fe Independent Film Festival (SFiFF) revealed the first 10 titles that will be featured on the 2019 lineup. Films announced include I Was At Home, But… directed by Angela Schanelec – winner of the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival; It Must Be Heaven directed by Elia Suleiman – Palestine’s submission to the 2019 Academy Awards, and The Whistlers directed by Corneliu Porumboiu – Romanian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.

One Day in the Life of Noah Piugattuk by Zacharias Kunuk will open the 20th imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival on Tuesday, October 22 at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema in in Toronto, Ontario. Rich in Kunuk’s distinct visual language, One Day tells the true story of Noah Piugattuk’s community in Kapuivik, north Baffin Island, 1961. They live and hunt by dogteam, just as Noah’s ancestors did when he was born in 1900. When a European settler, known as Boss, arrives in camp, what appears as a chance meeting soon opens up the prospect of momentous change.

Miami Film Festival GEMS returns October 10 to 13th, 2019, with Pedro Almodóvar’s Pain and Glory starring Antonio Banderas and Penélope Cruz opening the Festival, and Brazilian filmmaker Fernando Meirelles’ The Two Popes starring Anthony Hopkins and Jonathan Pryce selected as Centerpiece.

Culinary Zinema, the San Sebastian Film Festival section combining cinema and gastronomy, returns for its ninth edition. Last year in Culinary Zinema Alfred Oliveri presented his debut film: Tegui: Un asunto de familia / Tegui: A Family Affair.This year Culinary Zinema 2019 will open with his latest film La leyenda de Don Julio: corazón & hueso (The Legend of Don Julio: Meat & Bones), about three generations of a family who turn a local grill into a hugely popular steakhouse.

Twenty-one Basque films are selected for the 67th edition of the San Sebastian Festival, and nine of these, feature films having their world premiere at the Festival, will compete for the Irizar Basque Film Award. Zinemira, the section specifically dedicated to Basque cinema, contains ten films.

The 23rd Annual Urbanworld Film Festival will present a slate of 78 official selections and 7 spotlight selections in Manhattan, September 18 to 22, 2019 at AMC Empire 25 on 234 West 42nd Street.

Breaker celebrates the power of reggae by releasing the film Rudeboy: The Story Of Trojan Records directed by Nicolas Jack Davies about the legacy of Trojan Records, along with the label’s iconic catalogue on its eponymous entertainment distribution platform. Ahead of the film’s October 15 release date, music legend Don Letts, featured in RUDEBOY, will present the film at exclusive screenings at the Brooklyn Museum (Sept 26) and Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (Sept 28).

Ten short films have been selected as finalists for the Juried Short Film competition at the 2019 Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival. More than 350 entries from 25 countries were submitted for review. To be eligible, the films must have been completed within the past year and under 20 minutes in length.
