The Whitaker St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase screens works that were shot in the St. Louis region or were written, directed, or produced by St. Louis-area residents or by filmmakers with strong local ties who are now working elsewhere. Because of the Covid-19 health crisis, the Showcase will be presented virtually in 2020.

Tribeca Enterprises announced the initial schedule for the “Tribeca Drive-In” series, which will feature an exciting slate of over 30 iconic films, comedy acts, and more. Events will be hosted at drive-in theaters and exclusive venues in Los Angeles; New York; Arlington, TX; Miami; and Seattle, among other cities. The limited-engagement series will provide families with a safe, comfortable entertainment experience that captivates audiences of all ages, as the nation takes steps to emerge from coronavirus lockdowns.

The indie thriller Homewrecker originally due for release this Friday has now been pushed to July 3, 2020. The film which will be opening in select Drive-In Theaters, released a brand-new green band trailer.

Michael W. Bachochin’s highly-anticipated psychodrama/science-fiction feature film Parallax dropped the new trailer ahead of its release in theaters this summer. Starring Naomi Prentice, Nelson Ritthaler, Hattie Smith and Ted Gianopulos, Parallax opens in theaters on July 10.

Based on a contentious, real-life “honor killing” in 2005 that shocked Germany, Sherry Hormann’s A Regular Woman, which had its World Premiere at Tribeca in 2019, offers a novel and captivating approach: the murdered woman, a 23-year-old German of Turkish-Kurdish ancestry shot point blank by her youngest brother, narrates the action both before and after her death. A Regular Woman makes its virtual cinema premiere on June 26th from Corinth Films.

Uncork’d Entertainment and Dark Star Pictures released the trailer for director Zach Gayne’s dark comedy Homewrecker, starring Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep) and Precious Chong (L.A Confidential). The film opens in select theaters June 26, and DVD/Digital/On Demand on July 7.

Kandoo Films, the Los Angeles based full-service production and distribution company that focuses on emerging new artists will release two new indie films for first-time film directors – Michael Leoni (American Street Kid) and Drew Hale (Cut and Chop), as part of his Emerging Artist program.

The South Korean coming-of-age drama House of Hummingbird directed by Bora Kim which won the award for Best International Narrative Feature at Tribeca Film Festival will open nationwide in Virtual Cinemas on Friday June 26. The film will open in NYC at Film at Lincoln Center; and in LA at Laemmle Theatres and CGV Cinemas.

Onur Tukel’s provocative new film Black Magic for White Boys comes to VOD/digital on July 3.
