  • 75th Berlinale Awards – Norwegian Queer Drama ‘Dreams (Sex Love)’ Wins Golden Bear for Best Film

    The Norwegian queer coming-of-age drama Drømmer (Dreams (Sex Love)) by Dag Johan Haugerud has won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival. The film, starring Ella Øverbye as Johanne and Selome Emnetu as French teacher, depicts Johanne’s intimate writings about her crush on her female teacher. It is the third part of a trilogy by Haugerud that deals with the complexity of human relationships, sexuality and social norms. The film also won the award for Competition in Prizes of the FIPRESCI Jury and the Guild Film Prize.

The Legend of the Vagabond Queen of Lagos directed by The Agbajowo Collective won the Audience Award for Best International Feature

    The 49th Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) running March 27 – April 5, 2025, has revealed the year’s spotlight films, with For Worse, the directorial debut of actress Amy Landecker as Opening Night Film. The documentary Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore directed by Shoshannah Stern will screen as Centerpiece, and Love, Brooklyn directed by Amy Landecker as Closing Night Film.
